When should I choose a tracked paver instead of a wheeled paver?

Choose tracked undercarriage when subgrade is soft, grades are steep, or ground pressure must stay low on unbound base. Choose wheeled units when you transfer frequently between urban overlays, need faster road travel between night closures, or work mostly on firm, prepared surfaces with tight curb geometry.

How do I size screed width for a 3.75 m lane plus shoulder?

Start from the basic screed near 2.55 m and add hydraulic or bolt-on extensions to cover lane plus shoulder without forcing the tractor onto the drainage structure. Edge zones within roughly 150 mm of curb often need a plate compactor so the main screed never rides the gutter line.

Do I need a material transfer vehicle on every highway job?

Specify an MTV whenever truck dumps create temperature segregation or the paving speed must stay continuous through plant delays. On short municipal overlays with tight truck cycles, a well-managed hopper can suffice — we confirm that during the corridor assessment.

What hydraulic cleanliness level ships from the factory?

Paver hydraulic circuits are filled and verified to ISO 4406 18/16/13 cleanliness as a factory target. After flood-season silt exposure or major component swaps, we recommend resampling before returning grade/slope automation to automatic mode.

How does electric-heat screed warm-up compare with older oil-heat systems?

Electric-heat zones reach paving temperature with clearer zone control and fewer fluid-leak risks on the mat. Warm-up time still depends on ambient conditions; commissioning includes a corridor-specific warm-up curve so the first truck is not dumped onto a cold plate.

What is the typical PO-to-commissioning window?

Standard tracked pavers ship in 12–16 weeks ex-works; complex screed extension packages run 14–18 weeks including foundation and trailer review. On-site commissioning and operator familiarization are scheduled inside the first paving week.

How often should screed plates and conveyor chains be inspected?

Inspect electric-heat elements and plate wear every 500 paving hours, or sooner on abrasive quarry mixes. Conveyor chains and hopper flights follow the same interval when daily tonnage is high; regional hubs stock common kits for mid-season swaps.
